꽃게들의합창
- 꽃게 = blue crab
- 합창 = chorus
금모래가 깔려 있는 바닷가에 꽃게들이 떼 지어 살고 있었어요.
- 금모래 = golden sand ???
- 금 = gold
- 모래 = sand
- 깔리다 = to be buried / pinned
- 바닷가 = beach
- 떼 = group / crowd / herd / flock / pack / etc.
- 지다 = to set / sink / go down
- ~고 있었어요 = past progressive (was/were [verb]ing)
꽃게들은 모두 다섯 쌍의 발을 가지고 있었습니다.
- 모두 = all together
- 쌍 = pair
- 발 = foot / paw
그중에 가장 큰 엄지발에는 집게가 달려 있어서 집게발이라고 해요.
- 가장 = most / best
- 엄지 = thumb / big finger / big toe
- 집게 = tongs / pincers/ tweezers / forceps
- 달리다 = hang
집게발은 먹이를 잡을 때나, 적과 싸울 때 꼭 필요합니다.
- 먹이 = feed / food
- 잡을 때나 = catch
- 잡다 = to hold / take / grasp / grip / clasp / grab / seize
- 때 = time
- N(이)나 = "means that one of the two or more listed nouns will be chosen." (p105 of "Korean Grammar in Use Beginning")
- 적 = enemy / foe
- 싸우다 = fight
- 꼭 = surely / certainly / undoubtedly / at any cost
또 대장을 뽑을 때도 필요하죠.
- 또 = again / also ???
- 대장 = leader ???
- 뽑다 = select a candidate for a post ???
